Loretta played three seasons for the Padres (2002-05) and hit .314 with a .377 on-base percentage.
In 2004, Loretta set career highs in hits (208), doubles (47), home runs (16), RBIs (76), runs scored (108), batting average (.335), slugging percentage (.495) and on-base percentage (.391) in being named the Padres' team MVP for the second consecutive season.
Vander Wal, played for eight teams over a 14-year Major League career, including parts of the 1998-99 seasons with the Padres. He was part of the 1998 team that advanced to the World Series.
Vander Wal currently works as a professional scout for the Padres.
