PEORIA, Ariz. -- Center fielder Cameron Maybin could return to action on Monday after battling concussion symptoms stemming from when he hit his head on a post fielding a fly ball during Wednesday's practice.
Maybin, who has been held out of game action since the injury, had his first full workout on Sunday, including live batting practice, and said the concussion symptoms have passed.
"I'm feeling good," Maybin said. "Hopefully, I'm in there tomorrow."
Padres manager Bud Black was also optimistic that Maybin could return against the Royals on Monday at Peoria Stadium.
"He did some work in the cage yesterday and played catch," Black said. "And he's been doing some cardio stuff in the gym. Today he's going for a full day, so hopefully tomorrow he'll be back."
Maybin, 23, is expected to be the club's starting center fielder this season after being acquired over the offseason in a trade that sent relievers Edward Mujica and Ryan Webb to the Marlins.
