SAN DIEGO -- The Padres reinstated infielder/outfielder Kyle Blanks from the 15-day disabled list on Tuesday and immediately assigned him to Double-A San Antonio.

Blanks, who was placed on the DL in May with a strained right elbow and had Tommy John surgery, had been on a rehab assignment in San Antonio and will remain with the Missions.

With San Antonio, Blanks has gone 11-for-43 (.256) with three double, a triple and three RBIs. He has started five of nine games at first base, with the other starts coming at DH.

In 33 games before the surgery ended his 2010 season, Blanks batted .157 with three home runs and 15 RBIs for the Padres.
