Maybin hurts right knee in seventh inning

PHOENIX -- Cameron Maybin exited the Padres' 8-4 win over the D-backs on Monday after the top of the seventh inning with what was announced as patella tendinitis in his right knee.

Maybin went 1-for-3 with a pair of RBIs. He appeared to get hurt while running out a grounder in the seventh, and though he finished the inning, he was replaced in center field by Will Venable for precautionary reasons.

Venable was a late scratch from the Padres' lineup, sidelined by a sore right hand that he injured on a slide in Sunday's series finale against the Rockies in Denver. Chris Denorfia replaced Venable in right field and in the leadoff spot.

Venable leads the Padres with 11 stolen bases. He is batting .236 and has driven in eight runs in 35 games.
