Wednesday, March 26 Padres at the plate: Brian Giles hit his first home run of the spring, a mammoth shot on the grassy bank in right field. Starting pitcher Jake Peavy even slugged a home run. Khalil Greene had two doubles. Kevin Kouzmanoff also had two hits. Outfielder Paul McAnulty had an RBI triple in the eighth inning. Rangers at the plate: Spring Training sensation Josh Hamilton continued his torrid spring with a two-run home run off Peavy. Michael Young also had two hits, including a two-run double. Gerald Laird snapped a 5-5 tie with an eight-inning RBI single. Ben Broussard broke the game open later in the eighth inning with a two-run double.
Up next for the Rangers: Right-hander Jason Jennings makes his last start of Spring Training when he pitches against the Royals at 2:05 p.m. CT on Thursday in Surprise, Ariz. Jennings has a 1.54 ERA for the spring with opponents hitting .154 off him. This will be the Rangers final game in Arizona, as they leave immediately afterward and head for Texas. This will be the Rangers fifth game against the Royals. The two teams share the Surprise complex and the Rangers are 4-0 against them this spring.
