Padres ready to leave gloomy April behind
SAN DIEGO -- So long, April. Good riddance.

With a loss to the Brewers on Monday, the Padres wrapped up a disappointing month of April as the team finished the first full month of the regular season with a 7-17 record.

The 7-17 starts ties the 1994 team for the worst April in franchise history. The Padres were 9-17 a year ago in April after winning the only game they played in March. That team went on to finish 71-91.

The Padres did finish April with a 3.53 team ERA, limiting opposing batters to a .224 average.
