Street injures calf in Padres' win over Pirates
PITTSBURGH -- The Padres earned a big 9-8 win over the Pirates on Friday but may have taken a critical loss with an injury to closer Huston Street, who recorded his 21st save of the season.

On the game's final out, Street sprinted to cover first base, but was waived off by first baseman Yonder Alonso. Street came up hobbling, with an injury to his left calf.

"I was coming off the mound and pulled my calf," Street said. "It's a weird thing to explain, other than you just feel something pinch in there, and you hope you wake up in the morning and it's better. I've never really done anything to my calf. ... Hopefully it heals sooner than later. I'm just thinking right now of a way to get it healed."

"We got some ice on it," manager Bud Black said. "We don't know the significance of it. As always, we'll see how it sets up overnight. But my early premonition is that it's going to put him out for a while. Hopefully I'm wrong."
