SAN DIEGO – The San Diego Padres today announced they have selected left-handed pitcher Tom Layne from Double-A San Antonio and designated left-handed pitcher Alex Hinshaw for assignment. Executive Vice President/General Manager Josh Byrnes made the announcement.
Layne, 27, has split this season between Triple-A Reno in the Arizona Diamondbacks organization as well as Triple-A Tucson and Double-A San Antonio in the Padres organization.
