SAN DIEGO -- Padres third baseman Chase Headley made the second start of his Minor League rehab assignment with Class A Lake Elsinore of Sunday afternoon, his first in the field.
He went 0-for-3 with two strikeouts for the Storm. Headley plans to play the field again on Monday, although that decision hasn't officially been made.
Headley is expected to return to the Padres this week, barring a setback in the rehab of his fractured left thumb. Headley hasn't played this season after getting hurt March 17 in a Spring Training game against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.
