Forsythe moved to 60-day disabled list

SAN DIEGO -- The Padres added left-handed pitcher Robbie Erlin to their 40-man roster on Wednesday, meaning they needed a corresponding move to make room.

The team opted to move infielder Logan Forsythe - who has plantar fasciitis in his right foot - from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day disabled list.

However, as manager Bud Black said, that move -- retroactive to March 22 -- doesn't equate to a setback for Forsythe, who still wears a protective boot to keep his foot in place as it heals.

"If it does, it might only be impacted by a few days, based on what I've heard from our medical staff," Black said.

That means the soonest Forsythe could return would be May 22, though he has a long way to go first.

"He's got to do Spring Training again," Black said.

That means once Forsythe is cleared for baseball-related activities, he'll likely go to the team's complex in Arizona for extended spring trraining before he can begin a Minor League rehabilitation stint.
