Padres send down Brach to make room for Erlin

SAN DIEGO -- The Padres roster roulette continued on Wednesday, though there are signs the revolving door to the clubhouse might stop spinning soon.

The Padres officially added left-handed pitcher Robbie Erlin to the roster in time to make a start against the Phillies on Wednesday at Petco Park.

To make room for Erlin, the Padres optioned right-handed reliever Brad Brach to Triple-A Tucson. Brach, who began the season on the 25-man roster, was recalled from Tucson on June 23.

Brach appeared in two games since his promotion, tossing 1 2/3 scoreless innings in the first two games of this series against the Phillies.

It's been a busy week for Padres relievers -- past and current.

On June 22, the team recalled relievers Anthony Bass and Brad Boxberger from Tucson. After pitching that night, they were optioned the next day as Brach and Miles Mikolas joined the team. On June 24, Mikolas returned to Tucson as Tommy Layne joined the team.
