Padres activate Perdomo from DL

ARLINGTON -- The Padres activated right-handed pitcher Luis Perdomo from the 15-day disabled list Friday, and he was expected to be available in the bullpen against the Rangers on Friday.

To make room on the 25-man roster, the Padres optioned left-handed starter Wade LeBlanc to Triple-A Portland after Thursday night's start against the Mariners. He allowed four earned runs over 1 1/3 innings.

Manager Bud Black said Perdomo is going to be the long man in the bullpen. He isn't certain who will start when LeBlanc's turn comes again on Tuesday against the Astros but said Josh Banks is probably going to take the ball.

Banks is 0-0 with a 2.84 ERA over 6 1/3 innings this season.

LeBlanc has made two starts for the Padres this season, going 0-1 with a 14.54 ERA. Over 11 games (10 starts) for Portland this season, he was 1-4 with a 4.08 ERA and 47 strikeouts.

Perdomo was placed on the disabled list June 8 because of a strained left knee. He made one rehab appearance for Triple-A Portland, allowing two runs over one inning of work. Perdomo was claimed off waivers by the Padres on April 10 and made his Major League debut this season. He is 1-0 with a 5.06 ERA in 14 games.
