Padres recall RHPs Anthony Bass, Brad Boxberger and Brad Brach

The San Diego Padres today announced they have recalled right-handed pitchers Anthony Bass, Brad Boxberger and Brad Brach from Triple-A Tucson. Executive Vice President/General Manager Josh Byrnes made the announcement.

Bass, 25, is making his fourth stint with the Padres this season. The right-hander has posted a 5.11 ERA (21 ER, 37.0 IP) with 24 strikeouts against 15 walks in 21 relief outings for San Diego this year. In 15 games started for Triple-A Tucson, he has posted a 4-6 record with a 5.45 ERA (48 ER, 79.1 IP) and 60 strikeouts against 17 walks. Over parts of three Major League seasons with the Padres (2011-13), Bass has gone 4-8 with one save, a 4.00 ERA (81 ER, 182.1 IP) and 128 strikeouts against 75 walks in 72 games, 18 starts.

Boxberger, 25, is making his fifth stint with the Padres this season. Over 10 relief outings for San Diego, he has gone 0-1 with his first career save, a 3.07 ERA (5 ER, 14.2 IP) and 16 strikeouts against seven walks. With Triple-A Tucson this year, the right-hander has posted a 2-4 record with five saves, a 3.61 ERA (23 ER, 57.1 IP) and 89 strikeouts against 19 walks in 42 relief appearances. Over parts of two Big League seasons (2012-13) with the Padres, Boxberger has gone 0-1 with one save, a 2.76 ERA (13 ER, 42.1 IP) and 49 strikeouts against 25 walks in 34 appearances.  

Brach, 27, is also making his fifth stint with the Padres this season. The right-hander has gone 1-0 with a 3.65 ERA (10 ER, 24.2 IP) and 24 strikeouts against 13 walks in 26 relief appearances for San Diego this year. In 33 appearances for Tucson, he has gone 4-3 with three saves, a 2.84 ERA (14 ER, 44.1 IP) and 44 strikeouts against 14 walks. Over parts of three Major League seasons with the Padres (2011-13), Brach has gone 3-6 with a 3.84 ERA (42 ER, 98.1 IP) and 110 strikeouts against 53 walks in 102 relief outings.

With today's transactions the Padres currently have 31 active players.
