Medica, 25, will be making his Major League debut when he appears in a game with the Padres. He combined to hit .296 (88-for-297) with 54 runs, 22 doubles, three triples, 20 home runs, 65 RBI, .370 on-base percentage, .593 slugging percentage and a .962 OPS in 81 games with the Rookie League Padres (five games) and Double-A San Antonio (76 games). He ranked tied for tenth in the Texas League with 18 home runs despite playing just 76 games. Medica led all Padres minor leaguers with 20 home runs this season while leading the Missions to the Texas League Championship series before being selected by the Padres. With the Missions, he hit .296 (83-for-280) with 48 runs, 20 doubles, three triples, 18 home runs and 57 RBI in 76 games. He was the Padres Minor League Hitter of the Month for July, hitting .308 (33-for-107) with 18 runs, 11 doubles, two triples, six home runs, 20 RBI and a 1.004 OPS in 29 games.
Medica will play for the Peoria Javelinas in the Arizona Fall League following the conclusion of the Major League season.
In four minor league seasons, he is hitting .295 (312-for-1058) with 177 runs, 94 doubles, eight triples, 49 home runs, 205 RBI, .388 on-base percentage, .538 slugging percentage and a .926 OPS in 300 games.
Medica was originally drafted by the Padres in the 14th round of the 2010 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft out of Santa Clara University.
