Luebke to have arm examined in Cincinnati

PITTSBURGH -- Padres left-hander Cory Luebke will be examined later this week by orthopedic surgeon Dr. Tim Kremchek in Cincinnati. Luebke has been shut down on three different occasions this season as he attempts to recover from Tommy John surgery that was performed in May 2012.

"He's going to stay there a couple of weeks," Padres manager Bud Black said. "Have his people look at him a little bit and maybe even get some thoughts on some therapy there in Ohio. I'll have more of an update in a couple weeks on his status. He's not going to throw for at least a few weeks."

Luebke had appeared to be making progress, but had another setback.

"Anybody who's in this stage of a rehab and they're not over the hump, you always worry," Black said. "You're always worried, and in this case just because of the position he plays and the pain is near the same spot. There is probably a little bit more concern than in most cases."
