Padres trade pitcher Colt Hynes to Cleveland in exchange for cash considerations


SAN DIEGO - The San Diego Padres today announced that the club has traded left-handed pitcher Colt Hynes to the Cleveland Indians in exchange for cash considerations. Hynes had been designated for assignment by the Padres on October 26. Executive Vice President/General Manager Josh Byrnes made the announcement. The Padres' 40-man roster remains at 40.

Hynes, 28, split the 2013 season between Class AA San Antonio, Triple-A Tucson and the Padres. With the Padres, he posted a 9.00 ERA (17 ER, 17.0 IP) with 13 strikeouts in 22 appearances. He recorded a 1.52 ERA (8 ER, 47.1 IP) with 58 strikeouts in 41 combined appearances with San Antonio and Tucson.
