"We're excited to deliver a show to our fans that will allow for daily interactions with our players, coaches and front office personnel," said Padres SVP/Chief Marketing Officer Wayne Partello. "The addition of Jesse as a content director allows us to have someone focused on how we are engaging with our fans every hour of the day. This is another example of the commitment of our ownership group to connect with our fans and provide them with Padres content no matter where, when, or how they choose to consume it."
In addition to his role as Padres Social Hour host, Agler serves as an occasional play-by-play announcer. He joined the Padres front office on February 5 as director of the newly created content department, a role in which he oversees all club digital and social operations, including the integration of content for padres.com and Padres social media accounts. He spent the past four seasons in Miami, as the pregame, halftime and postgame host on the Dolphins Radio network. Agler also hosted The Finsiders, the Dolphins' daily multimedia talk show airing on radio, dolphins.com and FOX Sports Florida.
A graduate of the University of Miami, Agler's first job was calling baseball games for the Elkhart, Kan. Dusters of the Jayhawk League. He has also served as fill-in play-by-play announcer and pregame and postgame radio host for the then-Florida Marlins.
Two regular contributors to Padres Social Hour will be longtime Padres beat writer Bill Center and longtime U-T San Diego Columnist Nick Canepa, both of whom have extensive knowledge of the Padres and the organization's history. Center, who is joining the club after retiring from U-T San Diego in January 2014 following nearly 47 years at the paper, will also be a regular contributor to padres.com.
"We couldn't be more excited to welcome Bill and Nick as contributors to Padres Social Hour," said Partello. "Few people know this club better than these two, and we know their expertise about the Padres, our history and this community, will be an incredible addition to the show and the website."
Fans can also expect regular appearances by Padres coaches, executives and alumni including Trevor Hoffman, Bud Black, Josh Byrnes, AJ Hinch, Randy Jones and more.
