Padres sign RHP Odrisamer Despaigne to minor league deal

SAN DIEGO, CA - The San Diego Padres today announced that they have signed Cuban right-handed pitcher Odrisamer Despaigne (pronounced O-DREE-SA-MEHR DES-PAWN-NYAY) to a minor league contract. Executive Vice President/General Manager Josh Byrnes made the announcement.

The 27-year-old, six-foot, 196 pound, Havana native played professionally for the Havana Industriales of Cuba's Serie Nacional for eight seasons, posting a career 61-43 record with a 3.55 ERA (378 ER, 957.1 IP) with 684 strikeouts against 390 walks in 213 games.
