Black successfully challenged Charlie Blackmon's stolen base after he walked to lead off the first. After starting pitcher Donn Roach walked Corey Dickerson, Dickerson was called safe on a steal attempt. But that too was overturned after review.
Roach then got Troy Tulowitzki on a fly ball to end the inning.
San Diego catcher Rene Rivera was credited with two catchers' caught stealing in the inning.
Black is first manager to get two overturned calls in the same half-inning this season.
There was a third review in the game, an official review and not a manager challenge, in the seventh inning when Padres reliever Alex Torres attempted to pick off Blackmon at first base.
Blackmon was ruled safe but, after Black ran out on the field, the umpires conferred and then went to replay. The call stood, thus ruining the perfect mark of overturned calls by Black on the day.
