In his best start since being promoted to Triple-A El Paso earlier this month, right-hander Matt Wisler, who is the Padres' No. 3 prospect, held Tacoma to one unearned run on two hits in seven innings in the Chihuahuas' 3-1 victory over Tacoma on Monday.

Wisler, ranked No. 66 on MLBPipeline.com's Top 100 Prospects list, struck out seven batters and walked one. He earned his first Triple-A victory in his fifth start at the level.

Wisler retired the first 11 batters he faced Monday before Ty Kelly doubled with two outs in the fourth inning. An error by shortstop Jace Peterson followed, allowing Tacoma to score its lone run of the game.

But Wisler recovered to complete seven innings for just the second time this season. He worked efficiently and threw just 83 pitches.

Right-handers Dennis O'Grady and Hector Ambriz followed Wisler with two perfect innings of relief to complete the combined two-hitter. Ambriz pitched the ninth and earned his third save of the season.

With the victory, Wisler improved to 1-3 with a 8.85 ERA with El Paso. He has struck out 20 batters and walked eight in 20 1/3 innings. Overall this season, he has a 4.83 ERA and has struck out 55 batters in 50 1/3 innings.
