Last season, Denorfia spent most of the season with the Oakland A's Triple-A Sacramento affiliate, hitting .271 with nine home runs, 49 RBIs and 15 stolen bases.
Denorfia got 120 at-bats with the Reds during the 2006 season, hitting .283 with a .356 on-base percentage.
If Denorfia makes the Major League roster, he'll make $430,000.
The Padres like Denorfia's versatility and that he can play all three outfield positions.
There will be plenty of competition for jobs in the outfield in Spring Training. Chase Headley, Kyle Blanks, Tony Gwynn and Will Venable all return. If nothing else, the addition of Denorfia will give the team outfield depth in Triple-A Portland.
