SAN FRANCISCO -- It may seem hard to believe, but Padres closer Huston Street never earned a trip to the All-Star Game as a member of the A's or the Rockies.

Could he make it a second time with the Padres?

Street, who was picked to the National League All-Star team in 2012, the Padres' lone representative that season, looks like the smart -- and deserving -- pick again this season.

Going into Tuesday's game against the Giants, Street ranked sixth in the National League with 20 saves, in 20 opportunities. His ERA after 28 appearances is 0.96.

Since 2012, he has the best save percentage (96.2 percent) in the big leagues.

Street can only make the team as a manager's pick, with the players' vote or as a Final Vote candidate.

It's not too late to make a push for Padres on the NL ballot.

San Diego players on the ballot include shortstop Everth Cabrera, first baseman Yonder Alonso, second baseman Jedd Gyorko, third baseman Chase Headley, catcher Yasmani Grandal and outfielders Chris Denorfia, Seth Smith, Carlos Quentin and Will Venable.

Fans can cast their votes for starters at MLB.com -- online or on a mobile device -- using the 2014 All-Star Game MLB.com Ballot Sponsored by Experian until Thursday, July 3, at 8:59 p.m. PT. The 2014 All-Star Game will be played at Target Field on Tuesday, July 15, on FOX.
