SAN DIEGO -- When Cardinals manager Mike Matheny sits down to figure out the pitchers who will be a part of his National League All-Star roster, chances are he'll get an eyeful when he looks at what Padres closer Huston Street has accomplished this season.
Street, after all, has converted all 22 of his save opportunities, with a 0.90 ERA to boot. He's currently on pace for his best season in the big leagues in this, his 10th season.
While Street's potential inclusion is out of the control of fans, it's still possible to make a push for a handful of Padres position players on the ballot.
San Diego players on the ballot include first baseman Yonder Alonso, second baseman Jedd Gyorko, third baseman Chase Headley, shortstop Everth Cabrera, catcher Yasmani Grandal and outfielders Chris Denorfia, Carlos Quentin and Will Venable.
Fans can also vote for outfielder Seth Smith as a write-in candidate.
Fans can cast their votes for starters at MLB.com -- online or on a mobile device -- using the 2014 All-Star Game MLB.com Ballot Sponsored by Experian until Thursday at 8:59 p.m. PT. The 2014 All-Star Game will be played at Target Field on Tuesday, July 15 on FOX.
