SAN DIEGO -- As strange as it sounds, the Padres have a tie to the no-hitter Colorado's Ubaldo Jimenez tossed Saturday against the Atlanta Braves.
Felix Feliz, the Padres coordinator of Latin American scouting, signed Jimenez as a non-drafted free agent in 2001 when he was with the Rockies.
Jimenez is no stranger to the Padres. He has a 5-3 record and a 3.64 ERA in nine career starts. He defeated the Padres on April 11 in Denver, allowing two runs on seven hits in six innings.
Feliz has been with the Padres since 2007 after the Rockies advanced to the World Series.
